The “Ohakozaki Senjojiki” is a geo-site of the Sanriku Geopark. This unexplored spot is located at the tip of the Hakozaki Peninsula, further from the Michinoku Coastal Trail course.
Walking about 3.5 km through the forest and down the steep cliff, you will find a spectacular view of rugged rock surfaces that have been carved by wind, rain, and waves over a long period of time from granite that hardened when magma cooled about 120 million years ago. The contrast between the blue of the ocean, the white of the rocks, and the red of the torii (torii gate) of the Ohakozaki Shrine makes for a breathtaking view. This is a recommended spot for hikers seeking a secluded spot.
