Learn about the “An event in Kamaishi” at the Tsunami Memorial Hall “Miraikan

The museum exhibits materials and videos showing the damage at the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.

Kamaishi was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
The Miraikan was built as a facility to promote learning about disaster prevention to protect future lives from disasters. The museum exhibits materials and videos showing the damage at the time of the disaster, and conveys the events of the earthquake and the lessons that should be learned.
Visitors can learn key stories about the city of Kamaishi.

Basic fee: 10,000 JPY
Participation fee: 2,500 JPY per person
Interpretation fee: 5,500 JPY per hour (up to 4 people)
